In a word, Jesus is why we gather. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He as in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and life was the Light of men. John 1:1-3. He is Lord and Savior. He is our everything. He is the focus of all our meetings as a church.
The Church is the People of God, Not a Building
The first meeting of RCBC at the Hilltop location was Resurrection Sunday, 2013. Months before we met in a home before outgrowing it. Our new space has a kitchen which is often used and is wonderful for H.O.M.E. cooking classes (a ministry to our community). Through our adopt a chair program, chairs and tables were obtained. The pulpit and cross were built by one of our members, and are truly a work of art. All that to say, when we gather at 1195 Hilltop, or meet in a home, WE are the church.
Fellow sinner, listen to Jesus' words, "It is not those who are well who need a physician but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." Lk 5:31-32. Jesus did for us what we would not and could not do. "He (God the Father) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Cor. 5:21
